Grade 4-8-Sarah Nita, 13, tells the story of the Navajo's forced 400-mile Long Walk from their ancestral homeland through winter snow to Fort Sumner. Thus began the terrible four day trek through freezing weather to Ft. Sumner; those unable to walk were either left or killed. I thought Sarah Nita was such a great main character. The story itself is interesting and the characters are likeable enough.
